What is a flight controller in a drone?
The flight controller is the drone's onboard computer. It reads data from its gyroscope and accelerometer many times per second and sends corrective commands to the ESCs to keep the aircraft stable and responsive to your stick inputs.
Do I need a flight controller for a drone?
Yes. A multirotor is inherently unstable on its own, and the flight controller's stabilisation is what makes it flyable at all, beyond a few seconds.
